Bab Bou Jeloud (also, Bab Boujeloud) meaning, “The Blue Gate” (in English) is the main entrance gate to the old Medina, Fes el Bali, in Fez. Constructed in Moorish architectural style in 1913, the gate comprises three symmetrical horseshoe arches. The facade of the Bab Bou Jeloud features a rich and wonderful ornamentation design based on calligraphic, geometric, oral decoration and interlaced poly-chrome glazed tiles (mostly blue). The entrance offers a view of the Bou Inania Madrasa and the nearby mosque’s minarets. The beautiful gate is one of the most famous attraction of Fez that attracts a lot of visitors.
