The year in Laos has a warm start with most parts of the country at comfortable temperatures. However the Northern parts are cold and the temperatures start to drop as the evening approaches. It is one of the best times of the year to explore the waterways of the country.

The climate gets slightly hotter in Laos, barring the northern parts of the country. During the start of the month, it is still quite cold in the North. The water levels remain decent and you can indulge in river traveling.

March rises up the temperatures till 30 degree Celsius. The highlands provide a pleasant climate for those who wish to escape the heat. River levels go low and hence it becomes quite uncomfortable to explore the waterways.

The heat soars to a whopping 36 degree Celsius in the country and the Slash and burn tendency continues to create smoke and haze in the cities as well as the country side. The river levels remain low, as rains cannot be expected until the very last week of the month.

Even though, it is more likely to rain in this month, nature does not make it very evident. The temperatures remain high with the slash and burn continuing to produce the haze. However towards the end of the month, humidity levels rise, hinting at the arrival of rains.

By June, it is time that Laos experience the monsoons. The showers do not bring with them the usual gloom associated with the rain, since many parts of the country, still receive sun shine, especially the southern region.

Well into the monsoons, now you find greenery all around. The temperatures which average at 30 degree Celsius, tend to drop a little and cool the surroundings. Beautifully cascading waterfalls become a part of the delightful views of the country.

Rising monsoon showers fill up the rivers and the whole of country is decorated in a lush green landscape. The temperatures keep dropping and Laos experiences an average of 20 degree Celsius. It’s a good time to visit, however traveling in remote areas gets difficult.

The August climate stretches into the first half of September, however the second half creates a magical sight due to the sun shine. With flowing rivers, cascading waterfalls and lush green landscape in the sun’s light; it becomes an ideal travel month for nature lovers.

Beat the crowds early in October and grab the shoulder season bargains. The temperatures fluctuate around 20 degree Celsius and there is a slight chance of rains, although the country’s dry weather returns.

With an abundant upsurge in Flora and Fauna, Laos attracts a lot of crowd. It is an ideal season for river travel since the water levels are high. The climate in Laos remains dry and the temperatures hover between mid to high 20 degree Celsius.

The start of December, witness the same climate as November. River-cruising and sight-seeing are at its peak. However, in the second half of the month, the temperatures are likely to start taking a drop in the Northern parts of the country.
